As Chair of the 2012 Canadian Chemistry Conference and Exhibition, it will be my pleasure to welcome delegates to Calgary in May 2012 and show chemists from across Canada and abroad some western hospitality. The largest gathering of chemical scientists from all sub-disciplines, it is the most important venue the Canadian chemistry community has for exchange of results, networking and socializing.
Held in Calgary, the energy capital of Canada and indeed an emerging world energy centre, the theme of the conference is “Energizing Chemistry”. In addition to the usual broadly based scientific program, symposia emphasizing chemistry relevant to all facets of the energy industry will be organized in several divisions. A program highlights will be a symposium showcasing the best Canadian graduate students engaged in energy related research that we are calling “Energy Futures”. I invite attendees to take in this exciting symposium and explore the “Energy Futures” link to learn more.
The Calgary conference will be held at the Telus Convention Centre in downtown Calgary. A plethora of attractions, including the Glenbow Museam, Fort Calgary and the Calgary Tower are nearby and the area boasts numerous pubs, fine wine stores and bars, and some of the best restaurants in Canada. The organizing committee is looking forward to seeing you in Calgary this May—YEE HAW!!
